Music has introduced me to remarkable people and unforgettable places over the years. From 15 years at New York City’s Red Lion on Bleecker Street to neighborhood gatherings here in the South Bay, I’ve discovered that the best performances aren’t really about the performer.

They’re about the people in the room.

There is something special about watching a familiar song spark a smile, seeing friends linger a little longer or begin to sing along. Those moments can’t be planned but they happen, when the music fits the setting instead of competing with it.
